If you can only afford one skincare product, buy a sunblock or sunscreen. Daily use of a sunscreen with a minimum SPA of 15 (30 to 45 if you engage in outdoor activities or sports) will prevent photodamage, the #1 cause of skin cancer, wrinkles, and collagen breakdown. Use sunblock on your face, neck, chest, arms, hands--all parts of your body exposed to the elements. Use it in the winter and summer, even on cloudy or rainy days to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Something you need to know: UVA rays cause sunburn; UVB rays are 100 times more plentiful than UVA rays, are present year-round, infiltrate through clouds and windows, and penetrate 30 to 40 times deeper into the skin. So consider yourself warned. It's also important to use an antioxidant in addition to a sunblock.
